    Detox Water

I've heard about the lemonade detox before, but cayenne pepper? whoa, don't know if that's for me. Is there a length of time you're supposed to drink the mixes for detox? I've heard the lemon/cayenne should be for a week. Any time frame for the grapefruit/tangerine?

How is your heart health? Are you choosing heart healthy foods?

another reason to enjoy dark chocolate, yum! I saw recently on Good Morning America a segment about exercises that are good for your heart, and the only one I can remember right now is jump roping, because I've started trying to incorporate that into my workouts.

What are your plans for the 4th of July?

anyone on the southeast coast, be careful! the tropical storm/tropical depression by Florida looks like it'll be a hurricane heading north soon. Definitely changes a lot of beach plans around here.

Make Online Shopping Work for you!

Sounds like a cool idea. Especially being able to save up points/giftcards to use for gifts later in the year like at Christmas. Thanks for letting us know, I might try it out. I do a lot of searching online throughout the day, so it'd be nice to accumulate some points from it and see if it pays...

    Blueberries

I like to put blueberries in breakfast foods---cereal, oatmeal, yogurt. But they're also delicious just to eat plain! They can get really expensive, but lucky for me they grow easily where I live. My aunt had blueberries and they were growing so fast she couldn't pick them all before they got...

    What won't you buy online?

Same for me. No clothing or shoes. I would purchase other things--like computers. Just seems like the easiest way to get the best deals. Plus I dislike dealing with the salespeople who try to add more and more to your order. Happened the first time I bought a laptop and they added on so many...

    Dr. Oz Under Fire

I saw that about Dr. Oz. Very interesting case. He made the point that he never said the supplements and products on his show were scientifically proven. And while he doesn't directly say it, he definitely implied it. Seems like it was a way for him to get around any serious consequences.

    Potato Tower?

using a wheelbarrow seems like such a creative idea! that might even work for people who don't have a lot of yard space or are building container gardens. it definitely gives me ideas about other unusual items I can use as planters.

    springtime crockpot minestrone

originally found here, this is a new veggie-friendly favorite of mine! It's also easy to adapt (I added chickpeas/garbanzo beans, and used canned sweet peas instead of frozen). springtime crockpot minestrone ingredients: 1 sweet onion, diced 3 garlic cloves, minced 3 carrots, peeled and sliced...

Urban Apartment Tomato Container Gardening Tips

my parents bought one of those upside down tomato plant growers... didn't work for them. They got a few tomatoes, but very small. I thought it looked silly, and overall it ended up being more trouble than it was worth. They went back to regular potted tomato plants the next year.

Salt Intake and High Blood Pressure

I believe, like Barbara said, that it varies for each person. For example, my parents. Both consumed the same meals, same amounts of salt, but my dad's blood pressure was too high. But mom's was fine. People react differently. I think the best advice for everyone though is moderation.

What are your plans for the 4th of July?

I wish I was going to the beach, but it gets so crowded on the holidays! For the 4th of July, I'll be having a cookout and pool party with friends. Our county has a big fireworks display they put on at night, so we'll be going to watch that rather than try to do our own fireworks.

    veggie tofu recipe

I'm not sure how many fellow vegetarians are here... I've seen a lot of posts for cooking meat in crockpots but few vegetarian meals. (Most vegetarian-friendly posts seem to be appetizers, dips, or soup.) I wanted a nice, vegetarian main dish to try in the crockpot. I found this "Chinese BBQ...

    Weightloss

Thanks christine! I've invited friends over for meals at my house before. I made a really great crockpot soup one night with grilled cheeses and they came, but other times when I've tried they say they'd rather go out. I'll have to be creative and trick them into homecooked meals more!
