    okra?

I was given some okra this weekend ("some" meaning way, way, way too much). I asked a few friends and family what to do with it, what they do with it, and the answer was the same--they just add it to soups and chilis. Since it's still really hot summer and I won't be making soup or chili for a...

Slow-cooker Vegan Sweet Potato Chili (Low Salt Recipe)

I love sweet potato, but unfortunately no one else in my family does. I wonder if this would work the same with regular baked potatoes... or I'll just make my own little sweet potato meal in a smaller crock pot and they can handle they're own dinner ;)

    Home remedies for headaches

There's a store in my area called "Lush" and they're known for fresh, handmade natural items like cosmetics, soaps, lotions, etc. They have great massage oils and massage bars that are supposed to have different healing effects for the scents. Example there are some lemon and citrus ones, and my...

    Round or Oval Crock Pot?

I have both an oval and a round one. The round one is much smaller though, and a different brand. So it's hard to compare them fairly. I tend to prefer the oval one just because it is larger and better for cooking more food/meals. Since the round one is smaller I've only used it to make dips.

    New Cable Channel

Too many reality shows these days! Probably why I learn more toward old shows available on Netflix or silly comedies like Big Bang Theory or Park & Rec. Just something entertaining to make me laugh, not make me feel bad about humanity.

    New Cable Channel

I wonder why they made it that it had to be marriage, rather than just matching them up and setting them up on dates or even just living together? Would make more sense if they are giving the couples the option to quit after only one month.

    What did you eat today?

do you guys keep track of your food each day? Like a food journal type deal for nutrition info? It's been a trend lately with friends on Facebook that they're doing "photo diaries" of everything they eat each day, in an effort to be healthier and loose weight. The idea is that if they track...

    New Cable Channel

I heard about the Married at First Sight show; haven't watched it yet but I think it'll be interesting. I hate that it perpetuates the idea that marriage is just a game, and if you don't like it you can opt out in one month. They should definitely have to stick it out longer. (Since marriage is...

    walking with weights

Thanks, christine! I've tried running on the beach a few times with friends before, when on vacation, but I live pretty far away so exercise on the beach isn't really an option for consistent workouts.

I just found out this weekend that if you are an MVP member at Food Lion, there is a kiosk right inside the entrances, and you can scan your card and they print out coupons for you! The coupons are only good for that day, so you'll have to look them over and see what you'll use immediately. But...

How to make compost - Making your own compost

This is a really great video! Thanks for sharing. I used to compost with my parents at their house, where there's a big yard and garden. It's harder to do at an apartment when all of my gardening is done in small containers. This is really good info for future use though, if I get back to...

    walking with weights

Good point, Geri. I didn't think about the added stress on the joints. Probably not a good idea to try wrist weights, since I already have the risk of wrist problems from having a desk job and spending much of the day typing etc.
