- 3 1/2 pound(s) trimmed, boneless beef chuck or sirloin, cut into 1 1/4-inch pieces
- 1/4 cup(s) all-purpose flour
- 1 bottle(s) (12-ounce) dark, malty beer, preferably chocolate stout or porter
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 jalapeño chiles, chopped (remove seeds, if desired)
- 1/4 cup(s) hot Mexican or regular chili powder
- 1 tablespoon(s) chopped garlic
- 2 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
- 2 teaspoon(s) dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1 Haas avocado, pitted and diced
- 1/2 cup(s) diced red onion
- 1/2 cup(s) sour cream
- Cilantro sprigs
- In 5 qt. or larger slow cooker, toss beef with flour to coat; stir in beer, onion, jalapeños, chili powder, garlic, cumin, oregano, and salt.
- Cover and cook on high 4 1/2 hours or low 7 to 7 1/2 hours, until beef is fork-tender.
