Do you like to cook ahead and put meals in the freezer?

I tried crock pot liners once, years ago. Someone gave me a package. When I went to buy them, I thought they were a bit expensive. I did some internet research and could not find out if the liners were reusable. Everything I saw mentioned tossing them after using.

    Hearty Oatmeal

Awesome idea, Sarah. I'm heading to the kitchen to put on some oatmeal for tomorrow morning. I do not have an apple to chop, so I am going to add some pear butter I made last year and use cranberries instead of raisins and almonds instead of walnuts. I will let you know how it turns out.

    Italian Roast Beef

Years ago, my husband was preaching in Indiana. One member of the congregation, who had us over to dinner quite frequently, made this roast. We always call it “Eleanor Baughn’s Roast” after our Indiana friend. She gave me her recipe before we moved and I have made it ever since. I love to cook...

The wonderful benefits of walking for health

Gardening is my favorite form of exercise. I spend at least four hours a day weeding, raking, mowing, etc. I have many flowers and two very large vegetable gardens. I place chairs in the shady areas and keep a jug of water with me. I usually drink at least a gallon of water daily. Picked my...

    Eggplant

Amber, I am going to grab those coffee grounds this a.m. when I head outside. I have used Epsom salt on my tomato and pepper plants with awesome results. Maybe with coffee grounds, I can avoid the Sevin dust. Thanks!

    Eggplant

I have had the same problem in the past. First of all, eggplant likes hot weather. If you put your plants in the ground before the dirt is really warm, they just do not do well. Additionally, there are little black flea beetles that eat the leaves. I know, organic is best. But sometimes we have...

Do you like to cook ahead and put meals in the freezer?

I frequently freeze food I have cooked in the crockpot, especially soups, spaghetti sauce, and stews. I simply submerge the freezer container in hot water long enough to loosen the food, and then put the food directly in the crock pot while still frozen. I use the low setting until the food is...

    Crock Pot Ranch Chicken Recipe

If you search the internet for chicken recipes for your crock pot, you will probably find many variations of this recipe. I first used ranch dressing mix to make pork chops. They were very good, but Hubby prefers his pork chops and steaks fried. So, I tried chicken. Yummy! And the gravy is...

Gluten Free Bread in the Crock Pot

Wow! Bread in a slow cooker? Never heard of that before. Can you do regular bread the same way?

Mexican Meatball Stew Slow Cooker Recipe

Sounds yummy! I think even my picky husband might like this! And I have lots of fresh oregano to use! He won't eat black beans - do not know why, so will substitute either pintos or kidney beans. I'll entice him with homemade bread to go with it.

The wonderful benefits of walking for health

Walking is difficult for me. I am a goal oriented person and walking without a "destination" seems purposeless. I know, good health is a "destination." But it is abstract, not concrete. So, we have a 1/2 mile driveway that is almost all downhill. Hubby drops me off and I walk home. It's not...

    Hello from North Carolina

Looking forward to sharing my crock pot recipes. I love cooking the vegetables I grow during the summer and making those yummy soups, sauces, and stews during the winter. I actually own three crockpots. I have a very small one originally designed for fondue that I use for sauces and gravies. I...
